All nine Enneagram types can have any type of addiction, and all nine types can be co-dependent. There are certain tendencies toward addiction in the Enneagram types as there are inclinations in each type toward compulsions. The journey we all share almost always includes the reality that we are ourselves addicted to some substnace or activity or we have a family member or close friend who struggles with addiction. This teaching discusses the wisdom of the Enneagram and our tendencies to approach life in a predictable way and respond to stress and pain most often by doing the same things over and over to manage our feelings. Having spent the last year working the Twelve Steps in order to be a better parent and a better friend, Suzanne Stabile has discovered strong connections between her knowledge of the Enneagram and her experience in working the steps. She shares her journey in this one day teaching. Addiction is a complex problem, and this will in no way be a complete and comprehensive discussion. But it can become one tool of many that we use in order to better know and understand ourselves and others. When combined with other resources we believe this ancient wisdom can be very helpful.
