 Unattended Sorrow

Sat, Aug 14, 2010 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
"Those who walk in the way of integrity neither shun nor deny the existence of life's fiercest pain. In the most searing crises, they possess the wisdom to enter the pain and lament what they find." Steven Doughty It's no secret that we do not grieve well in this culture. We rely on euphemisms for death, feel pressured to resume a "normal" life as soon as possible after a loss, define strength as being able to suppress our emotions and act as if we can make it fine on our own, thank you. Moreover, grief over other losses-the loss of innocence, through child abuse or rape, the loss of identity, health, jobs, dreams, severed relationships - as well as the relinquishments which come with age - are often minimized. But living this way, with layers of accumulated sadness, has debilitating, sometimes devastating effects. Jesus was a "man of sorrows, acquainted with grief." He lamented the degeneration of Jerusalem, was greatly disturbed in spirit over the death of his friend Lazarus, deeply grieved in Gethsemane, cried out his pain from the cross. This workshop invites the participants into a sacred and healing space for encountering their"unattended sorrow" and releasng pain to the mercy and grace of God. Through prayer, scripture, ritual, refelction and analysis of our history of loss, we will honor the fullness of who we are and clear the path for becoming a new creation of Christ. This workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Pat Saxon(see About Us/Staff and Volunteers for her bio) and the cost is a suggested donation of 30.00. Lunch will be provided and childcare will be offered if reservations are made in advance.

 Leaving the War Behind

Fri, Sep 10, 2010 7:00 PM - Sun, Sep 12, 2010 6:00 PM
Leaving the War Behind - Coming Home to Your Self, Your Life, Your Relationships This workshop has been created for members of the military, who often struggle to rebuild their lives after the intensity of their military service. Many come home to strained relationships with their family and friends, yet they seek to the heal the struggles and move on. Join us for a unique gathering of military veterans to explore The Enneagram, an ancient personality typing system. It is a powerful tool for explaining why persons behave the way they do. The workshop will be lead by Suzanne Stabile. Suzanne, an Enneagram Master and former social worker, has taught Enneagram workshops throughout the US. Her warm, authentic and humorous teaching style puts participants at ease and helps them to understand themselves better in their personal, professional and spiritual lives. Knowledge of the Enneagram can produce surprising self-awareness and bring new authenticity to relationships. A deeper sense of community with others is often the result. Join us for a powerful, possibly life-changing experience. Schedule: Friday, Sept.10 7 PM - 10 PM Saturday, Sept 11 9 AM - 5 PM Sunday, Sept 12 1 PM - 6 PM Cost is a Love Offering and lunch will be provided on Saturday.
 Aggressive Stance

Sat, Sep 18, 2010 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
The Aggressive Stance includes Enneagram Numbers THREE, SEVEN, AND EIGHT. These are all personalities who have a repressed feeling center. Essentially, the feeling center has not matured along with the thinking and doing centers so their ability to express feelings and connect emotionally is limited. Part of the work of the day is to explore ways of bringing feeling into balance with thinking and doing. The personalities in this stance are considered aggressive because of their unconscious drive to reshape people and situations until they are the way the THREE's, SEVEN's, and EIGHT's want them to be. This is a first offering of this work in LTM. We hope that you will join us for this important day. As always, if you are not one of these numbers please consider participating in the workshop so you might better understand others with whom you are in relationship. The cost of the workshop is $50. Lunch is provided.
